Instinc 2025

Artist-in-Residence Program

CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR SUBMISSION

To apply for our INSTINC AIR program, you can choose from two options. INSTINC has two open calls each year, giving artists who apply through this process priority in selecting their residency time period.

Additionally, we offer the opportunity to submit a spontaneous application for consideration. We carefully review all applications to ensure a thoughtful selection process, and selected applicants will be invited for a Google Meet interview.

How to Apply

All artists interested in applying for this residency are required to submit their application online. The submission should include a copy of your CV, letter(s) of reference, project proposal, and an exhibition floor plan with proposed works. For your convenience, the gallery floor plan can be downloaded here.

Singaporean artists may apply here, while international artists can apply here.

Duration: 17 February ~ 14 April 2025

The residency is split into 2 sections: Production and Exhibition. The full residency spans eight weeks, with the production phase lasting seven weeks, followed by an one-week solo exhibition at our gallery space located in Tanjong Pagar Distripark.

INSTINC is located on Level 3 of Block 39, which also houses the Singapore Art Museum, the nation's only contemporary art museum.

INSTINC seeks for artists/creative individuals whose work embodies clear conceptual ideas + innovative approaches that resonate deeply with the contemporary art landscape.

As an independent artist-run space, INSTINC strives to sustain artistic independence and foster a vibrant community through inventive and daring partnerships. INSTINC encourages the exchange of creative practice among professionals in contemporary art through local and international collaborations. It aims to establish a platform where artists engage with the public through its exhibitions, workshops, artist-talks, and the renowned AIR program.

Over the years, INSTINC has been a proud host to over 120 international artists between 2009 and 2024, celebrating the synergy born from internal collaborations among like-minded creatives. The 24/25 AIR program is expected to sustain the success of past residencies, and continue to support the careers of participating artists.
